The ECOMED project along with advanced concepts in ecoengineering were showcased during the presentation given by Dr Alejandro Gonzalez Ollauri at the IUFRO 125th Anniversary Congress. IUFRO develops and shares the knowledge needed to provide science-based solutions to current and future global challenges for the benefit of forests and people. The 125th Anniversary Congress was a unique opportunity to celebrate IUFRO’s past achievements, highlight the IUFRO’s vital role in providing a sound basis for political decisions at all levels, strengthen collaboration among stakeholders, and build bridges to other sectors such as water, agriculture, energy, or ecoengineering. Thus, this Congress aimed to provide a platform for the exchange of scientific knowledge across the full range of forest and forest-related topics and scientific disciplines. A wide selection of technical sessions highlighted innovative and interdisciplinary research and approaches of relevance to forests, and focused on the transfer of insight into critical global forest-related challenges to national and international political agendas. Leaflets and Flayers of the project were also disseminated during the Congress. The ECOMED project attracted some interest from the Congress attendees, which has been translated in future scientific and professional collaborations.
